All Pure and Natural Coconut Oil benefits

COCONUT OIL BENEFITS: Growing up in a typical South Indian household, I have always heard of my mother and grandma saying “coconut oil can fix anything” and making me apply coconut oil to my hair and skin. I now feel nostalgic and I still remember my good old days when I apply coconut oil and put double plait and go to school. What was surprising to me as a grown-up is, what they said was right. Yes!, if coconut oil can’t fix something; then it’s a serious problem!

Coconut oil works from head to toe, it moisturizes the skin, gives a shine, helps in hair growth, and more, and is a healthy addition to your cooking too! Come on, let’s continue reading to see the hidden benefits of applying coconut oil from our heads to toe.

COCONUT OIL FOR HAIR:

I know, a few of us are tired of taming the mane and getting stressed about it. But don’t worry, there’s a granny’s medicine (paati vaithiyam in Tamil) to get it under control. Applying coconut oil regularly controls the frizz and gives your hair a shiny look. Yes! And what are you waiting for? Don’t hesitate to call your mommy or granny to help you apply coconut oil to your hair. If you are not home, your friends or roommates can help you with it, and get the same from you. That’s what friends are for right?

We would’ve often noticed the shampoos and conditioners mentioning it contains coconut oil or having coconut milk in them. Have you ever thought about the necessity of including coconut oil in a conditioner? It’s no wonder if you’ve thought about it as we all take hair wash after applying oil to our hair. But we missed knowing that coconut oil helps in conditioning our hair. Yes! It easily penetrates the hair strands and it can even prevent protein loss!

Many of us are suffering from dandruff and we all fear that applying oil to the hair makes dandruff even worse and we tend to avoid it. But did you know that coconut oil can lower the levels of yeast production and prevent inflammation and itching that are associated with dandruff? Try applying coconut oil regularly for moisturized and dandruff-free hair. If you hate having oiled hair, then cover it up with a soft cloth or a shower cap.

We can add a few drops of coconut oil and massage it in the bottom of our hair for a shiny look. As most of us have dark hair, applying oil makes it look even darker than it is, and remember, coconut oil can even give your hair a greasy look.

COCONUT OIL FOR THE FACE:

Try coconut oil before cleansing your face. Coconut oil has antibacterial, antifungal, and moisturizing properties naturally. Simply take a few drops of coconut oil and massage it circularly in your face and neck. Now, you can feel the exit of dead cells and dirt coming off of your face. When you’re done massaging, cleanse your face and neck with a gentle facewash.

You can see lots of eye creams available in the market today. But you can simply apply a few sufficient amounts of coconut oil under your eye and you would feel the hydration in your skin. Try to apply it on your ring finger to avoid giving too much pressure. It is better to apply it during the night as it might ruin your makeup during the daytime.

Have you noticed the inclusion of coconut oil or coconut milk in lip scrubs and lip balms? It is for the moisturizing properties that are filled in coconut. Instead of buying it from the stores, we can make our lip scrubs and lip balms at home! Let’s see how we can make use of coconut oil to maintain healthy lips.

For making lip scrub, add coconut oil, sugar, and honey and mix it all and scrub it on your lips for a few minutes. (oh! You’re asking for the measurements? Simply play around with the measurements of the ingredients until you get the desired consistency) Use this scrub before going to bed, to wake up with softer and plumper lips.

For making the lip balm, add two tablespoons of coconut oil, one tablespoon of honey, and add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Let it set. Once it reaches consistency, Yay! It’s ready to be used.

But, as we all know, massage oils usually have coconut oil or jojoba oil as their base. So, we can replace it with our coconut oil mixed with a few drops of our favorite essential oil and use it instead of massage oil. It gives nice moisture to your skin with your favorite refreshing smell!

Are you suffering from cracked feet and can’t wear your favorite heel? It’s okay! Apply a few drops of coconut oil to your feet and massage it. Now, cover it with socks and leave it overnight. Cracked feet are because of the absence of moisture or too much dryness in a particular area. Use it continuously until you get angelic feet. You can now wear anything you wish for!

Most of us may have the skin condition eczema or we may know people that are suffering from eczema, where the skin gets too dry and becomes red and itchy. COCONUT OIL FOR OUR DOGS:

We’ve seen the benefits of using coconut oil and I hope you will use coconut oil more in your daily routine. But feeding dogs with coconut oil feels weird, doesn’t it? There are various ways that could benefit dogs just like us. Alright, let’s see how we can treat the goodness of coconut oil to our dogs.

First of all, let’s see a beauty tip for our dogs. Sometimes, our furry little ones need some pampering too! Pups love playing outdoors. Their paws do get cracked and rough because of the stress that is given to them while playing. So, try applying some coconut oil to your dog’s paw and continue this for a few days(consult your veterinarian just to be sure). Coconut oil acts as an antiseptic and a moisturizer for them.

There are plenty of ways in which we can add coconut oil to our pup’s diet. If your dog also loves to eat peanut butter then add a few drops of coconut oil and mix it. Feed your dog as usual.

You can even give a frozen treat to your dog! Add a banana, a few drops of coconut oil, and peanut butter and add the batter to a mold and freeze it. Give it to your dog in between meals or whenever you wish for.

There’s a secret recipe that I give to my furry friends. Take a cup of boiled carrot or potato and add a few teaspoons of coconut oil to it. Mix it along with its food and tadaaa, a yummy meal is ready for your furry friend too!
